Originally from New York, Jo-Ann Rosa at a young age had a passion for Art. Having studied Art in college, she then joined the Air Force to continue her education. Serving six years in the Military, Jo-Ann went on to study at U.C. Santa Barbara Majoring in Business Economics. After running her own business for 14 years, JoAnn knew it was time to rededicate her life to her passion, "Art".
Working with Acrylics and mixing with different additives gives a feeling of movement. Resin has been used on some of Jo-Ann's work giving a glass like sheen which creates bolder colors. Jo-Ann is offering collectors a sense of an escaped reality in her work transporting the viewer to a place where the colors become brighter and the perspective deeper. Winning numerous awards, Jo-Ann has had commissioned works displayed in California, Philadelphia and New York.
Calling her style Abstract Realism defines the many facets of Jo-Ann's work. Those facets include art where the subject stands out, abstract because it is done with color, and brush strokes conveying emotion. Jo-Ann quickly developed a style born of intuitive energy that translates to an emotional experience on canvas.
Currently Jo-Ann divides her time between Santa Barbara and Palm Desert, California. Dedicated to her passion, Jo-Ann also tirelessly volunteers her time to the many non-profits that touch her spirit, including Zoofari Santa Barbara, The Girlfriend Factor, Breast Cancer - Susan B. Komen, and Military Day at Ironwood Country Club in Palm Desert, CA.
